School Safety
Hartridge staff, City of Lake Alfred, Polk County, and the State of Florida work together to provide a safe child-friendly learning environment. PARENTS and STUDENTS are vital components to successfully maintaining it. Changes are frequent as we learn from others' tragedies as well as preventative measures that have worked well elsewhere. Please keep informed and have serious child-friendly conversations with your children to support our efforts. This page contains links to resources. Beyond what is required, Hartridge contracts for law enforcement on campus during the school day. In addition, Hartridge specific expectations are provided upon private enrollment conference to assure an understanding and intent to comply. Please email the principal at debra.richards@polk-fl.net if you desire additional information.
Important Links
FortifyFL
There is a proper way for students, staff, parents and community members to share concerns about potential violence on school campuses. The state of Florida launched FortifyFL (https://getfortifyfl.com/), where anyone can submit an anonymous tip. Tips submitted through FortifyFL are sent directly to the district safety team, local law enforcement, and state officials. We work together to investigate and respond to all tips promptly.
Mental Health & Social Issues
Hartridge students have access to on campus mental health and social workers.
There are also resources they can provide to families for non-school related situations.
Students are provided with training and practice on how to handle on campus conflict and required reporting of potential bullying.
Internet
Technology requires supervision on and off campus when accessed by elementary students. The Polk County Sheriff department is a reliable source for parents https://www.polksheriff.org/internet-safety . To best control your child's internet access at school, only school issued devices can be used.
